Library bookmarks

Save library items to a personal list, organized by subject or date. Bookmarks survive sign-out, sync across devices, and appear on home + profile.

Bookmarking lets you keep a personal list of library items — references you come back to repeatedly, content you want to use next term, the activity you'd recommend to every class.

Bookmarking

Three places to bookmark:

  1. Library grid — the bookmark icon on each card. Tap to add / remove. Optimistic — flips locally instantly, persists in the background.
  2. Reader — the floating bookmark button at the bottom-right corner. It stays with you as you scroll; filled means saved.

Where bookmarks surface

  • Library → Saved — your full saved list, categorized. See below.
  • Book details drawer — a book that contains saved items shows a Saved items in this book shortcut straight to this list.
  • Home → Saved Items card (students) — your most recent saves for one-tap access.
  • Profile → Stats strip — total bookmark count.

Organizing your saved list

The Saved view groups your bookmarks into sections so a long list stays easy to scan:

  • By subject — a section per subject (Mathematics, English, …), most-recently saved first within each. The Saved view always groups by subject. Narrow it with the search box, the resource type and save date dropdowns (Any save date / Today / Last 7 days / Older), and — once you've saved across several subjects — the subject chips (tap one to filter, All to clear).

Across roles

  • Teacher — your bookmarks. Personal.
  • Parent — bookmarks belong to the signed-in account: your saves are yours and don't change when you switch learners; a child's saves live on their own student account.
  • Student — your bookmarks. Personal.

Bookmarks vs. recommendations

Bookmarks are a personal list — only you see them. Use Recommend to student (from the library item viewer) when you want a learner to see a specific item — that flows through the notification pipeline and lands in the student's home screen.

Common issues

  • Bookmark disappeared. Upstream KICD content was unpublished. The bookmark row stays in our DB but renders nothing (we don't show ghost cards); when the item is republished it reappears automatically.
  • Bookmarked on phone, not visible on laptop. Bookmarks sync via the DB — give it 5–10 seconds, then refresh. Stuck? Sign out and back in.
