Transferring schools

For teachers· 2 min read

Moved to a new school? Submit a transfer; admin confirms with both schools before the affiliation flips.

When you move schools — promotion, transfer, new posting — submit a school transfer instead of starting from scratch. The new affiliation activates only after admin confirms; until then both schools see your name on their list.

Steps

  1. Profile → Your school. The card shows your current school with its county, sub-county, and level.
  2. Tap Transfer to a different school.
  3. Pick the new school from the picker (same one used for claims).
  4. Enter the 6-digit confirmation code we send you — a step-up check is mandatory when you already have a school.
  5. Submit transfer.
  6. Submit transfer request.

What happens next

  • The request queues for an admin; you're notified when it's decided (confirmed or rejected, with the reason). Schools aren't notified at request time.
  • Admin sees the request in the verification queue with both sides surfaced.
  • Admin confirms with both schools (typically 3–5 business days) and flips the affiliation.

During the pending window

  • Your Profile card shows "Transfer to [New school] awaiting approval".
  • You retain access to old-school features (you're still verified there).
  • While it's pending, the card shows an amber "awaiting approval" pill and the picker is hidden — there's no self-serve withdraw; contact support if you filed it by mistake.

After approval

  • A notification + SMS confirms the change.
  • Old school affiliation moves to "history" — visible in the audit log but no longer drives access.
  • New school becomes the active affiliation.

Common issues

  • Both schools should claim me. Multiple concurrent affiliations aren't supported in v0. The transfer flow models a clean cut. If you genuinely teach at two schools, email hello@keybaki.com — admin can override.
  • Transfer rejected. The admin's note explains why. Fix the issue and re-submit.
