Editing a child profile

Update name, grade, or PIN on any child you've added. Changes sync to the child's user account immediately.

You can edit a child's display name, grade, and PIN any time from the Family screen. Edits apply immediately — the next time the child signs in, they see the new name and grade-scoped content.

Steps

Family → tap the child's row to expand.
Tap Edit child.
Update the fields you want to change:
- Display name — what shows in the chrome and on CEAs.
- Grade — Grade 7 through Grade 12. The library and CEAs re-scope on next sign-in.
- Avatar colour — a small visual marker so siblings tell each other apart in the picker.
Save.

Grade changes mid-year

End of year is the usual time — the child moves from Grade 7 to Grade 8. A few notes:

The library scope updates immediately. Old grade content is no longer recommended; new grade content takes its place.
CEA history is preserved. All past attempts stay tied to the child.
Coverage tracking restarts. Weak strands are computed from the last 30 days of attempts, so changing grade naturally resets the focus.

What you cannot edit

Date of birth — we don't collect it.
Account ID — internal; never exposed.
CEA history — read-only by design.

Common issues

Edit didn't save. The form validates name (min 2 chars, max 40) and grade (must be from the picker). If a save button is disabled, hover for the validation hint.
Child still sees old name. They need to sign out + back in for chrome to refresh — JWT cached the display name at sign-in.
