Switching the active learner

For parents· 1 min read

When you have multiple children, the rest of the app scopes to whichever child is the active learner. Switch from the top pill or the Family screen.

When you have multiple children under your parent account, Keybaki shows one child's view at a time. That child is the active learner; switching them re-scopes the home screen, library, CEA history, and recommendations to the new active learner.

How to switch

From the top pill (every screen):

  1. Tap the active-learner pill at the top of the chrome — it shows the current child's name + grade.
  2. The picker drops down with all your children.
  3. Tap a name. The pill updates; the screen re-renders.

From Family:

  1. Open Family.
  2. Tap a child's row. The row expands; the Make active learner button is at the top.
  3. Tap it. The pill updates.

What changes when you switch

  • Home — focus card, weak strands, recommendations all re-scope.
  • Library — grade scope follows the new active child's grade.
  • CEAs — picker shows strands matching the new child's grade; history shows their attempts only.
  • Bookmarks — switches to the new child's bookmark list.
  • Notifications — stay account-level (you don't get one feed per child). The bell shows everything.

What doesn't change

  • Wallet — one shared wallet across all children.
  • Settings — your account settings.
  • Profile — your profile, not the child's.

Reverting

The previous active learner stays your last-switched. The picker keeps an "Active: X" pin at the top so you can jump back in one tap.

Common issues

  • Active learner reset itself. Sign-in establishes a default active learner (the most-recent-active one). Edge cases — like a deleted child — fall back to your first remaining child.
  • CEA history seems wrong. Likely the active learner is the wrong child. Look at the pill.
