Worksheets inside books

For teachersFor parentsFor students· 2 min read

Short 5-question practice quizzes mapped to a chapter's sub-strands, launched straight from a book's table of contents and marked like a workbook page.

Worksheets are short practice quizzes that live inside a book, not on the CEAs tab. Where a CEA covers a whole strand, a worksheet zooms into one sub-strand — the exact topic of the chapter section you're reading.

Where to find them

  1. Open a book from the library shelf and go to its table of contents.
  2. Every chapter lists its sub-strands. A sub-strand with a worksheet shows a W in its summary (for example 3L · 1A · 1W — lessons, activities, worksheet).
  3. Expand the sub-strand and tap Practice questions — it sits right under the sub-strand's lessons and activities. Each worksheet is up to 5 questions, drawn from that sub-strand's question pool (a thin pool gives 3 or 4), so retrying usually gives you a fresh mix.

A sub-strand only offers Practice questions when its pool has enough questions — no W in the summary simply means there are no worksheet questions there yet.

How marking works

A worksheet result is deliberately lighter than a CEA result — it reads like a marked page in a workbook:

  • Your marks as a plain fraction, e.g. 3 / 5 — no percentage, no grade band.
  • A short coaching line telling you what to do next.
  • Check your answers — every question with a tick, cross, or "blank", and the explanation underneath.
  • Two actions: Try Again (a fresh worksheet on the same sub-strand) or Back to the Chapter — the lessons to reread are right where you came from.

There's no competency-mastery panel or weak-strands list here; for the full diagnostic picture, take a CEA on the whole strand from the CEAs tab.

Who can use them

  • Students take worksheets directly while reading.
  • Parents browsing a child's book can run a worksheet too — the attempt is recorded for the active child.
  • Teachers can open worksheets to preview what learners will see.

The free plan applies at the book level: on free-plan subjects everything inside the book works normally, and premium books gate at Open Book Contents before you ever reach the worksheets.

Common issues

  • "Worksheet handed in" instead of marks. You were offline when you submitted. The attempt is queued and will be marked automatically once you're back online.
  • Practice questions won't start. The question pool may be temporarily unavailable — a short error shows under the row; try again in a few seconds.
