Duplicating a plan

Most teachers re-use last year's plan as the starting point for this year. Duplicate creates a deep copy — a fresh plan with the same content but its own status, timetable binding, and delivery history.

Steps

1. Open the plan you want to clone.
2. Tap Duplicate in the plan's header actions.
3. The copy appears in your plans list titled "… (copy)", starting as Draft.
4. Open it, update the lesson date, and adjust anything that's changed — the wizard's per-step edit links get you straight to the right screen.

What carries over

• Title, subject, grade, strand, sub-strand, CFItem
• All lesson steps — titles, minutes, 5E phase tags, and teaching content
• Attached library items (by ID — if the upstream item was unpublished, the link is silently dropped)
• Outcomes, key inquiry questions, and assessment notes

What doesn't carry over

• Status (always Draft on the clone)
• Timetable binding (must rebind manually)
• Attachments (file references are not copied — re-upload if you want them on the duplicate)
• Delivery history

When to duplicate vs edit

• Duplicate when you want the original to remain in history (e.g. last year's record) and the new one to evolve independently.
• Edit in place when last year's plan is the canonical version and you're just refining for this year. No fork; coverage history stays.

Common issues

• Some library items came across as broken links. Upstream KICD content was unpublished between when you created the original and when you duplicated. Open each one in the library and replace with the current equivalent.
