Reading your school profile
What every card on /school/profile means — school metadata, the roles you hold, supervisor scope, contact attestation, and how to act on each.
/school/profile is the read-only "what does Keybaki know about my school and how am I connected to it?" page. Open via the School entry in the side rail (laptop) or bottom nav (phone). Any teacher attached to a school can read it; the more roles you hold, the more cards render.
Cards on the page
School metadata
Name, county, sub-county, level (Primary / JSS / SSS), type (public / private), gender, accommodation (boarding / day / mixed), cluster, KNEC code. Each row that's been admin-verified shows a small verified chip — that means an admin or your principal confirmed the value, not just that someone typed it in. You can't edit metadata from here; only admins can. If something's wrong, email us.
Your roles
The chips on this card are the relationships you hold at the school. Three kinds can show up:
- School supervisor — DOS, deputy, principal, HOD, or class teacher. Granted by a platform admin. Drives access to
/school/plans(read every plan in your scope). - School contact — Principal, Deputy, or ICT Lead, matched by phone against the school's contact list. Drives the per-school attestation flow (annual review of class lists, teacher rosters).
- Attached teacher — your
currentSchoolIdis set to this school. The basic relationship that every other role builds on. Granted via claiming a school.
If you have a contact-only chip (Principal / Deputy / ICT Lead matched by phone) but no supervisor grant, the chip shows a small Open attestation affordance when a fresh attestation token is in your inbox. Otherwise it's just informational.
Admin pointer
Bottom of the page. Tells you who can change school metadata or your role grants, and points you to email hello@keybaki.com for changes.
What you can act on
- Wrong school name / level / type → email us.
- Want a school supervisor grant you don't have → see Signing up as a school administrator.
- Want to move to a different school → see Transferring schools — don't claim a new one.
"No school attached" state
If your account has no currentSchoolId (you haven't picked one yet, or your transfer is still pending), the page shows a single yellow No school attached card with a Pick your school CTA that opens the school picker. Picking one writes through to your account immediately.
Common issues
- Card I expect doesn't appear. Each card has a precondition: school metadata needs
currentSchoolId; supervisor chips need at least one active grant; the contact chip needs a matched phone onschool_contacts. Missing all three is the "no school attached" state above. - Verified chip is missing from a field I know is correct. Verification is a separate admin action, not automatic. An unverified value can still be right — it just hasn't been admin-confirmed yet.
