Messaging as the school office

For teachersFor admins· 1 min read

The /school/messaging surface — send as the school office, run broadcasts, manage contact lists and templates, and work the shared office inbox.

/school/messaging is the school-staff comms hub. The key difference from a normal direct message is that everything sent here comes from the school office, not from you personally — and replies land in a shared Office inbox so any contact can follow up, not just the person who sent it.

A sub-nav inside the screen switches between five tabs:

Send

The default tab and the day-to-day surface: compose a message to a parent or guardian as the school office. Use this instead of a personal DM when the message is official school communication.

Broadcasts

Compose to a large audience and review what's gone out, with per-channel delivery counts. For the mechanics of audiences and channels, see Sending a broadcast.

Contact lists

Create and maintain the recipient lists broadcasts target — e.g. "Grade 8 parents", "All staff".

Templates

Saved message bodies for the things you send repeatedly (fee reminders, event notices), so you're not retyping them each term.

Office inbox

The multi-agent queue for incoming threads addressed to the office. Because it's shared, several contacts can see and pick up conversations — useful when one person is away.

Common issues

  • I don't see this surface. It's for school contacts. Confirm your roles on /school/profile; if you're not a contact, ask your admin to add you (see Managing your school).
  • A reply went to the office, not to me. That's by design — office threads are shared so the school never drops a conversation when one person is out.
  • My broadcast reached fewer people than expected. Check the contact list it targeted and the per-channel delivery counts on the Broadcasts tab — some recipients may lack a reachable channel.
