Getting confirmed at your school

When you pick your school during sign-in, you're attached to it right away — but as pending. Keybaki holds you out of the school's roster and messaging until someone who already runs the school confirms you actually teach there. It keeps strangers from picking a school and mingling with its students, parents, and staff.

This is separate from signing up as a school administrator (that's about supervisor access). This article is about the ordinary "I teach here" confirmation every self-picked teacher goes through.

What you see while pending

A sky-blue strip sits at the top of the app:

Membership pending verification. A school contact or admin needs to confirm you before students and parents appear.

Open My students and you'll see a notice instead of a roster:

Awaiting school confirmation. You're attached to your school, but a school contact or admin needs to confirm you before students and parents become visible. We'll notify you the moment you're approved — meanwhile the library and your plans are ready to use.

You'll get a notification the moment you're confirmed; you don't have to keep checking.

What works, what waits

While you're pending you can still use everything that doesn't expose other people:

• Browse the library and bookmark content for your grades and subjects.
• Create and edit your own lesson plans, and build your timetable.

What waits until you're confirmed:

• Your students roster — pending teachers see no students.
• Inviting parents and recommending library items to students.
• Messaging school members — you won't appear in the contact picker and can't start conversations until you're in.

How you get confirmed

Anyone who is a verified school contact at your school (principal, deputy, ICT lead) can confirm you from their Manage tab — see Managing your school. A Keybaki admin can also confirm you. Most schools have a contact set up; if yours doesn't yet, ask your school to nominate one, or email hello@keybaki.com and an admin will confirm you directly.

Once confirmed, the banner disappears, your roster fills in, and parents and staff can reach you. You don't need to sign out — the next page load picks it up.

Common issues

• I picked the wrong school. Ask your contact or admin to decline you — that detaches you and sends you back to the school picker so you can choose the right one. Or use Transfer schools from /profile.
• My roster is still empty after I was confirmed. Pull-to-refresh or reload. Verification is read fresh on each request, so a hard refresh always reflects the latest.
• I was already teaching here before this feature. Existing teachers were confirmed automatically — only newly self-picked teachers start pending. If you're unexpectedly pending, ask your contact or admin to confirm you.
