The user detail panel

For admins· 2 min read

Everything you can see and do on one user — account, activity, wallet + transactions, children, and actions like message, adjust wallet, suspend.

Open Admin → Users and tap any user to slide out their detail panel — the single place to review an account and act on it.

What it shows

  • Account — phone / email, current school, when they joined, last seen.
  • Learning scope — grade (students) or teaching level + declared subjects (teachers). Editable; see Changing a user's scope. For a student it also shows selective-subject changes used (n of 3) with an ops-only Reset — the support fix when a student has spent their swap budget. Every reset is audited.
  • Activity — plans, CEA attempts, days active, how they last signed in, last device + location, flags they've raised. A recent-events feed sits below.
  • Wallet — for a paying account, the token balance, recent transactions, and Adjust balance. See Adjusting a user's token wallet.
  • Children — for a parent, each child with a premium / trial / school / basic access badge.
  • Funded by — for a student, the parent who pays for their access and that parent's wallet balance (students have no wallet of their own).
  • Role — read-only. See Changing a user's role.
  • Actions — Message, Suspend, Reset 2FA, and (where relevant) Grant supervisor / Make school contact.

Messaging a user

The Message action sends a one-off notification straight to the user — a title + body that lands in their in-app bell (and push, where their account type allows it). It's audited. Use it for direct admin outreach ("your school was verified", "please re-pick your senior school").

Wallet & transaction history

The Wallet section shows the current balance plus the last dozen wallet transactions — top-ups, daily debits, and manual adjustments — each with the KES amount and M-Pesa receipt where one exists. To credit or debit, see Adjusting a user's token wallet.

Children & their access

A parent's Children list shows each child's access tier at a glance: premium (active paid subscription), trial (unexpired family trial), or basic (free plan). To grant free access, credit the parent's wallet with Adjust balance — they subscribe normally, so payment gates stay intact. A student's own panel instead shows Funded by — the paying parent — because a student never holds a wallet.

Common issues

  • The Role is locked. Roles are read-only by design — see Changing a user's role for the safe alternatives.
  • No Wallet section. Only paying accounts (parents, or teachers with parent access) have a wallet. A plain teacher or a student shows none — a student shows Funded by instead.
