Privacy summary

For public· 1 min read

A plain-English summary of what Keybaki collects, why, and what it never does. Full policy at /legal/privacy.

This is a short tour of how Keybaki handles your data. For the legally-binding version, open the full privacy policy.

What we collect

  • Account info — your phone number, name, role, and (optionally) the school you teach at. For students it's just display name + grade.
  • Content you create — lesson plans, bookmarks, uploads, teacher notes, CEA attempts. These are yours; we process them on your behalf.
  • Family data — for parents, the display name + grade + PIN hash of each child you add.
  • Usage telemetry — aggregated screens viewed, features used, error reports. Never tied to your name except for fraud detection.

What we never do

  • We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers.
  • We don't collect your phone's contact list, browsing history outside Keybaki, or precise location.
  • We don't read your messages, files, or attachments unless you flag them for moderation.

Your rights under Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019

  • Access — request a copy of your data.
  • Correct — fix anything wrong.
  • Delete — ask us to erase your account. Backups are purged within 7 days.
  • Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Complain — escalate to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) if we mishandle anything.

Common issues

  • Where do I see exactly what's stored about me? Settings → Privacy & data → Download my data exports a JSON archive of everything tied to your account.
  • Can I delete my account? Yes. Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account requires a phone-OTP confirmation; deletion is irreversible 7 days after the request.
